About IGC – Association of Industrial Green Chemistry e.V.
The Association of Industrial Green Chemistry (IGC) is the advocacy organization for Europe’s new green chemical industry. It amplifies green chemistry issues in politics, business, and science to build a sustainable, competitive industrial base.
IGC connects startups, scale-ups, SMEs, established companies, researchers, and policymakers who are driving innovation in chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. It focuses on practical solutions that reduce environmental impact, strengthen supply security, and keep high-value production in Europe.

Expertise
IGC’s board and founding members bring deep industry, startup, and policy expertise to support the growth of a new green chemical industry in Europe. The association’s credibility is strengthened by the combination of entrepreneurial, technical, and policy experience represented across its leadership.[file:1]
This expertise gives IGC the ability to translate complex technical and industrial realities into clear public positions, practical advocacy priorities, and credible contributions to policy debates. It also helps the association connect early-stage innovation, industrial scale-up, and market needs in a way that is relevant to founders, manufacturers, investors, and public decision-makers.
Stakeholder Engagement
IGC facilitates dialogue with stakeholders in the German Federal Government, the European Parliament, and the European Commission. The goal is to secure policies and funding frameworks that enable industrial green chemistry to scale across Europe.
Through position papers, consultations, and direct engagement, IGC brings the perspective of innovators and industrial practitioners into political processes. This helps policymakers understand what green chemistry needs to become the new standard in production.
With the idea of an Association for Green Chemistry in 2024 and preparation in 2025, the official formation was completed in March 2026.
The founding members represent the diversity of Green Chemistry in Germany, are networked in the political arena in Berlin and Europe, and have contacts across European borders.
